UWO Tournament Results

Our senior wrestlers competed in their first tournament of this season when they travelled to Western to wrestle in the UWO Invitational.  I am not sure we could have started off the year any better as we came away with 6 gold medals and one bronze medal.  This was a fantastic start to the year and we hope to build off this success!
Gold medals were won by:

Brayden Todd
Cameron Carter
Darrion Sterling
Larissa Bufalino and
Clyaton Pye
Desiree Fenech won a bronze medal and Ryan Tebbutt wrestled very well again competition much older than he was. 
This was also a qualifying tournament for the Ontario Winter Games which will be held in Huntsville this March.  Aron Reeves, Brayden Todd and Cameron Carter all qualified for the games by winning their division.  Way to go guys!

2013-2014 Wrestling Season Starts This Monday!

Practices for the Harry Geris Wrestling Club begin on Monday, October 21.  Practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 until 8:30.  The club is open to anyone regardless of experience.   There are male and female divisions and the age groups are as follows:

Juvenile - born in 1996/1997
Cadet - born in 1998/1999
Bantam - born in 2000/2001
Kids - born in 2002/2003
Novice - born in 2004/2005

The team fee for cadet and juvenile wrestlers (high school aged) will be $175.

The team fee for Bantams, Kids and Novices will be $150.

This fee includes all practices, a team t-shirt, and entry into the Provincial Championships.

Sarnia Invitational Results

What a fantastic showing!
Twelve members of the HGWC travelled to Sarnia this weekend to compete at the Sarnia Invitational.  Our wrestlers did amazing bringing home 10 medals!  Medal winners were:

The open boys team finished in second place, just one point behind last year's OFSAA champions, L'Essor.

Junior Practice Starts Tomorrow!

We are very excited to have the junior HGWC wrestlers starting practice tomorrow.  This is the beginning of another great season for our younger team members. 
Practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 at Clarke Road Secondary School.  Feel free to bring a friend with you tomorrow night, no experience necessary. 
Please park in the lot off of Wavell Street between the school and Argyle Arena.  Enter through the doors off the parking lot.  We are wrestling in the cafeteria which is just down the main hall on your right hand side.

UWO Tournament Results

The senior wrestlers had their first tournament on the year on Saturday at UWO.  We picked up right where we left off last year with a ton of great results!  We had 11 wrestlers (some competing for their high school) wrestling in this tournament.  The results were:

Welcome Back!

We are very excited about the upcoming wrestling season.  We are entering our 4th season and last year we had our best results ever!  We can't wait to get started, but we need to register everyone before we can get out on the mat.

Our registration night this year will be:

Wednesday, October 12th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Clarke Road Secondary School.  The school is located at the corner of Wavell Street and Clarke Road.  Please enter off the east parking lot doors (beside Argyle arena).

The cost of the wrestling season is $150 for Junior Wrestlers and $175 for Senior Wrestlers.  This includes all your practices for the season, a team t-shirt and entry into the Ontario Championships.  (There may be additional fees for optional tournaments) 

Please bring your birth certificate or passport (for proof of age), your health card and the team fee to the registration.

Our Senior team will begin practice on Monday, October 17 at 6:30pm.  Practices are 2 hours for the senior team. 
Our Junior team will begin practice on Monday, December 5th at 6:30pm.  Practices are 1 1/2 hours for the junior team.

1994 - 1995 Juvenile
1992 - 1993 Junior
Bantams and Cadets may practice with either team depending on skill level and experience.
